There
is no doubt that today's college life is way more stressful than how it used to
be. Technology has made everything easier and saved our time. On the other
hand, it added to the pressures that we're facing. Researchers have emphasized
that nowadays students are struggling up to manage between their
social life and their academic studies duties. The research mentioned a story
of a student who has been failing for 9 years because he could not manage
between his college duties and being a professional athlete. The
stress of continues assignments, the financial problems and choosing the problems of the major course might lead the students to face a number of pressures and
problems that will affect their life badly.
Firstly,
students face the stress of continuous essay writing and assignments. The given
time is usually not enough for the students to finish all of the assignments
that makes them stressed and offended because of their poor self-control over
their time. Some students will not find it a big issue to skip some classes in
order to sleep more or to socialize with their friends because they have given
up on trying to be on time, or to attend all of the classes. On the
other hand, psychiatrists emphasize that there are many ways to
avoid depression and lack of time. The first step is to stay cool and balance
the assignments. Moreover, it is important to set a time table in order to manage your time and organize your
work. Researches proved that self-control saves approximately half
of the needed time to finish any assignment. A student who writes his duties
and organizes them will find it easier to hand in them.
Secondly,
the financial problems might annoy some students. The expensive tuition fees of
some universities may annoy the poor students and their families and lead them
to face many problems in getting money for books, housing, and other
college costs. Many charities and universities give scholarships to those
families who cannot cover their teenagers' fees and expenses. Poor
students usually struggle to help their families what makes them try to find a
part-time job, or save some money by getting cheap clothes and books. Part-time
jobs usually affect students in a bad way. Researchers showed that working
students have shown a decline in their studies because they are already
distracted and exhausted thinking about their job. Those students usually have
no social life since they almost have no free time for their friends or
relationships.
Thirdly,
students may face problems choosing their courses. The unnecessary
classes are usually big problems for most of the students because they
rarely check if the classes they are taking are transferable or not.
Moreover, some students have to re-take some of the courses again before
they transfer to another university. Those unnecessary classes will
obviously distract students' attention away and confuse them because they
do not know if those classes are useful and must be taken or
not. Unnecessary classes can be easily avoided by reading more about the
courses before taking them, or by checking with the university that the
student wants to transfer to. Most of the universities give away some
booklets on the courses they teach when a student shows a desire to know
more about the educational system of the university. Those booklets should
be the first thing any student must ask for before deciding what courses
should be taken.
In
conclusion, college life and its continues assignments, financial problems and
choosing the problems of the major course are still one of the biggest
issues that scientists and psychiatrists are working on and doing their best to
decrease its harmful effects as much as possible. Students will
always face problems in their academic life, but smart students are those
who learn how to manage their problems and split them from their academic
and educational duties in order to succeed and have a peaceful college
life.
